arrival of the new era, hera the menace

i've not been blogging (bitching) for awhile now. i've been busy (lazy mostly) with new jobs, new clients. but life have been a bit stale for awhile for me (and my son) for the fact that we're always looking at each other, staring at each other's chinese eyes ;)

till 2 weeks ago, my good old friend gave me a little puppy, a 2.5mths old Rottweiler. i named her, Hera after the olympian goddes... and she does behave like a goddes at times while i'm the servant to the highness, serving food, wiping her mouths (front & back).

so our daily routine is no longer a routine one, not anymore, at least for Husky, cos he has a new sister and i have a new daughter ;) so now life is a bit more fulfilling for Husky now... and he is a bit more active now....and me too, cos i've been wiping the pee and picking up the shit left by the new arrival of Hera the menace... imagine i've not been doing this for the last 4yrs since Husky is super well toilet trained....now i'm training myself again, not only the patience bit but the right way of squatting down (to pick the shit....) haha...

-- Husky is happy ;)

but she's cute, super duper "manja" and "teh" and goes everywhere i go. sleeps on my lap when she's tired, sleeps by my leg when i'm working... ;) and yes, teething, makes me crazy...cos she bit my beloved Teva slippers... damn... so now i've a new daily routine, hang my slippers before i go to bed! ;)

Scam! Win a Macbook Air in facebook

there is a phishing scam going on in the facebook by one of its advertisers that entice facebook users to guess the friend's birthday and stand to win Macbook Air.



it's absolutely a scam. it not only use the camouflage marketing tactics by hookwinding users in subscribing their services, it's also a phishing scam that steals the users password!



the moment you click on the web banner on the facebook it will lead you to their "contest" website which immediately steals your facebook account's password, either after or before you keying more info in the website.

immediately you're log out of the facebook and you have to re-login. but you cannot login again with your existing password!

because you're require to reset to your NEW password!

i received a warning email from the facebook immediately:

"Hey Edo,

We have detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have reset your password as a security precaution. It is possible that malicious software was downloaded to your computer or that your password was stolen by a phishing website designed to look like Facebook. Please carefully follow the steps provided:

1. Run Anti-Virus Software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure. For Microsoft:

when you're in their page, it requires you to key in your mobile number then in return it will send you a text message require you to confirm your participation.

BUT... it's not a confirmation of participation, in fact it's a subscription. a "continuation subscriptions" to their mobile content service, it will not stop until you text them again to request stop. each text message will cost you MYR4 to reply, and it's not stated in the text message but in the fine print under the website. the t&c states that if you reply means you've agreed to the terms & conditions. it means you by the time you realize, you would have at least paid MYR8 (USD2.36) just to cancel the "subscription"!!

luckily i was smart enough (but not smart enough to let them steal my password), with my marketing & advertising experience i know how mobile marketing works. they make money thru every text message you sent.

i realized it's a scam when they sent me a message requesting me to send back a confirmation. by law (or ethically) it must state that the cost of each SMS but it didn't. and normally, you will need to send a few text messages in order to confirm a deal, e.g.

you: YES (send 12345)
they: pls. provide info such name, ID, etc...
you: richard, 987654 etc (send 12345)
they: pls. answer few questions
you: the answers (send 12345)

imagine, you would have sent at least 3 times to realize it's a scam! that will be MYR12 (USD3.54) with this scam...and could be more!

I just have no respect with dishonest marketing, totally unscrupulous!

Michael Jackson's final rehearsal...video

michael had his final rehearsal 2 days before his passing at the Staple’s Center in Los Angeles with his dancers for his "This is it!" London concerts.

thou at 50, he was still charming on the stage.

check out how stringent the audition was. thousands of dancers were auditioned for his final act. those dancers were so excited and tearing when they got selected. i bet they must be crying right now too with michael's passing.



MJ's "This is it!" concert would have been the greatest show in decades. damn...

i guess if i have a time machine, michael would be the first person i would save ;)

a thief falls flat...

i woke up at 12.30 a moment ago, was very tired today due to the build up of numerous days of lack of sleeps. still stoned and blur, but i had to wake up cos i need to walk my husky boy. he has been holding on his bladder for whole day, ya, he's a bit of a clean freak. he will only pee outside of the house.

while walking out of my house i notice a huge black patch on my garden, i thought it was a new breed of weeds! i moved closer then only to realize that it was a dead kitten?! nope, it was a giant-size rat?! nope, it was a black squirrel?! what the hell was that?!

after doing some research and chatting with my neighbour we concluded that it was a musang or also known as asian palm civet or common palm civet or toddy cat (although it's not a cat species) and 'luwak' or 'luak' in indonesian, 'motit' in philippines and 'uguduwa' in sri lanka. a local menace that loves to climb the roof, steal food from homes and attack chicken farms.

cos' we have noticed some noise above our roof for the past few days, some rather large creatures were running above us. they even urinated on his roof and leaked through his ceiling into his bedroom! it certainly not a cat, cat would only pee at their usual spot. and not a rat, rat would not have this much of urine, that will leak through the ceiling... but we'll never know if this rat has huge bladder ;)

hang on, do you know there is 'kopi luak' in indonesia & 'motit coffee' in philippines made out of the coffee beans pass through their system undigested? hmm....

- poor fella -

this is how a thief died, we concluded that this cute little fella, a baby civet fell off the roof and onto my garden. it was still 'soft' while i tried to wrap it with papers, so we suspected it died not more than 2hrs ago.

- look at its palm, it's chimpanzee-like. soft & thick -

and, this could be another reason how a thief died. he was trying to steal food or he could have had a 'cat-fight' with his other brothers & sisters over his mother's milk, and got thrown out of the roof...

- may you rest in peace, and never need to steal again in your next life -

the king is dead... the moonwalker michael jackson..

just before i went to bed this morning, after working through the nights. i saw the news, Michael Jackson is dead, The King of Pop is gone. all my tiredness was gone, my single eyelid eyes that turned double eyelid due to exhaustion turned back to single eyelid instantly...

wtf?! is all i could say for 15min. he was supposed to be have his comeback concernt in july. he was training so hard to stay fit for his upcoming 50 shows. i wonder what went wrong to his training regime or "it was long overdue", since he was rumoured to suffered from skin cancer for a long time.

nonetheless, that's no other King of Pop like Michael.

i grew up with his moves & his music. we shall now remember him as the creator of moonwalking, the ignitor of new music tv with substance/story, his production quality is still unbeatable till to date.

my all-time favorite music video!


my pals & i actually performed a show based on this video at a rotary club annual dinner back in '90... haha... and i was the cute little boy that MJ dance with at the back entrance.

we shall mourn while doing the moonwalking but will always love him for what he has contribute to the entertainment and joy of our life.

Rest in peace, Michael Jackson my King of Pop. We will always remember you.

2009... a myth in making...

i've been busy, really busy with sleeping for the past 2 months ;)

2008 was great, more ups than down, but when it reach the year end, downs is more that ups... every where is being hit by the financial swirl and i'm not spared from it. so i chose not to doing anything about it or rather i just chose to be in denial of the fore coming swirl.

but nonetheless, life is still good, simply because i'm happy.

2009 has been predicted by most that will be a very challenging year for most. i think the same too. i fore casted the worst is yet to be seen this coming year. i hope i'm wrong.

but nonetheless, so whatever it comes, i shall take it with a smile ;)

cos simply, i've a new love in life, a new goal, a new unprecedented project, a very important idea that i intend to give my full concentration to. something that i love, something that i've been thinking since many years ago. and i think it's time to embark on it. well, since the financial turmoil is hitting my industry badly. what to do....? advertising is always the first hit when global economy slows down. so what if you're the best brand strategist in the world? sometimes i wonder why do i love advertising so much? i should have become a pilot when i had a chance, a driver surrounded by many beauties is not a bad idea. but i missed the age group already ;)

so i'll be launching something fun this year, after chinese new year. lots of preparation needs to be done now...hmm... i'm just simply excited ;)
